ATLANTA – (March 16, 2022) – The ATL Airport District, comprised of four cities nestled between Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and bustling downtown Atlanta, today announced several exciting events for locals and visitors to experience this spring. With the weather getting warmer, the District is offering an array of activities and events for people of all ages and all interests throughout the cities of College Park, East Point, Hapeville and Union City.
“Warm weather always brings out the best events from our local restaurants and attractions! We are thrilled to welcome visitors near and far to enjoy a variety of local happenings which are perfect for families, date nights, friend gatherings and more,” said Cookie Smoak, the president of the ATL Airport District.
This spring marks the return of the District’s favorite recurring events such as Coffee & Chrome, a classic car and motorcycle meet-up on Saturday, April 9, and recurring the second Saturday of each month through September. In addition, every Wednesday the East Point Farmer’s Market will offer fresh produce, artisan goods and experiences at City Hall from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

College Park’s Wine Stroll - On Thursday, March 17, the city of College Park invites guests to enjoy a wine stroll along its Historic Main Street. Beginning at 4 p.m., attendees will be able to enjoy live music, art and giveaways while sipping wine as they stroll. This event is designed to showcase and support the local businesses and talent that Atlanta has to offer. Tickets are available for $25 per person. Must be 21 or older.

Jazz on the Lawn – Also on the 17th, following the Wine Stroll, the Eldridge Simms Jazz Quintet will perform on the College Park City Auditorium lawn. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., the event is free and includes all-age appropriate refreshments.

Spin the District - The most highly anticipated event series of the season returns on Saturday, April 23, with an action-packed day of fast-paced family fun featuring a city-block cycling racecourse just off Hapeville’s Downtown Arts District. Cyclists from near and far are invited to participate in Spin the District’s Hapeville Crit which begins in the Jess Lucas Y-teen Park at 11 a.m. An accompanying block party for attendees of all ages will feature unique and exciting experiences with bike demonstrations, food trucks, craft drinks, and various kids' activities. Visitors are invited to spend the weekend in Hapeville with unbeatable rates at the Kimpton Overland Hotel and the AC Hotel Atlanta Airport Gateway. Eggstravaganza Community Egg Hunt – This popular Hapeville event is back for the second year! On Saturday, April 16, at 1 p.m., families are invited to an Easter egg hunt with Camp C.O.R.E., an organization that encourages all ages to be active and have fun. Designed just for little ones age 4+, a free egg hunt will include an exciting world scramble twist that will lead to gift giveaways. This eggstravagant event will be taking place at the John R. Lewis Memorial Park & Dog Park.
In College Park, the popular “College Parklets,” which emerged during the pandemic as a way to encourage dining out in a safe and open-air space, have officially reopened for the spring. The parklets turn nearly 100 feet of parking (seven spaces) in front of the Real Milk and Honey, Virgil’s Gullah Kitchen and Bar, and Johnny’s Chicken and Waffles into full-service patios.
“I’m excited to revisit the College Parklets to enjoy some of my favorite restaurants in the nice spring weather, and look forward to mixing and mingling with members of our community as we all celebrate the arrival of the season,” said Smoak.
